Komainu Appoints Neil Batchelor as Global Head of Partnerships

This newly created role focuses on strategic growth initiatives and partnerships to drive innovation and expansion

London, May 20, 2024 -- Komainu, a regulated digital asset custodian, today announced the appointment of Neil Batchelor as Global Head of Partnerships. This appointment supports the company's ambitious growth plans and helps cement its position as a leading innovator in the institutional digital assets space.

In this new role, Batchelor will be responsible for leading partnerships globally, further enhancing existing infrastructure and service provider collaborations, and driving new strategic partnerships across the digital assets and institutional securities servicing ecosystems. His addition to Komainu’s executive committee closely follows the appointment of Paul Frost Smith as Co-CEO and will play an important role in solidifying Komainu’s position as a leader in the institutional digital assets infrastructure space.

Mr. Batchelor joins Komainu following more than 20 years in capital markets with over ten years working in the digital assets industry. Prior to joining the business, Batchelor was Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer at Guardian Labs, a platform powering on-chain lending for tokenised real-world-assets and decentralised finance, and Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer at Lacero Platform, the digital asset management platform known for its hybrid custody concept and on-chain policy enforcement and asset controls. He previously spent a decade in senior roles at Commerzbank.

Paul Frost Smith, Co-CEO at Komainu, said: “Partnerships, alliances and collaborations are at the heart of the crypto ecosystem. As it becomes clearer that this is an asset class that stands on its own merits, institutions are increasingly seeking the trusted partners they need to enter the market in a way that is secure, regulated and compliant. Neil brings a wealth of experience and expertise that will help Komainu spread its wings, ushering in a new era of growth and building further on Komainu’s leading innovative solutions.

Robert Johnson, Co-CEO at Komainu, said “As we build out additional services and solutions to our offering, Neil’s expertise in the industry will be invaluable. His understanding of the various ecosystems will enable us to team up with and provide a truly world-beating set of solutions to our institutional client base.”

Neil Batchelor, Global Head of Partnerships, said: “Komainu offers institutions the tools and capability to access financial opportunities in the digital assets space in a secure and compliant way. This is a highly innovative bank-backed business, already positioned at the crossroads between digital assets and traditional securities servicing, and I look forward to expanding our global reach.”
