In February 2024, SIX Exchange Regulation AG announced an update to its rules for listing crypto-asset-based products.
The updated regulations expand the range of eligible crypto-assets, opening up new opportunities for investors. A key addition is the requirement for these products to use custodians that are either licensed and supervised by FINMA (the Swiss financial regulator) or equivalent foreign financial institutions.
In line with these changes, Komainu (Jersey) Limited has been approved as a custodian of crypto assets under the new guidelines. This is particularly noteworthy as Komainu is the trusted custodian for several ETP issuers, including CoinShares, who currently list 17 crypto ETPs on SIX. CoinShares listed its first Bitcoin ETP on SIX in 2021. Komainu is also a trusted custodian for ETC Group and Valour.
